Lars Albin Blomster was born on April 30, 1873 in Lilla Noleby, Fyrunga Parish, Västergötland, Sweden to Johan Petter Blomster and Greta Andersdotter. He was confirmed in the church of Sweden (Fyrunga Kyrka) in 1888.
He came to America in 1894 on the steamship “Gallia” of the Cunard Line at a cost of about $300 and settled in St. Paul. He came to the U.S. with $10 and was planning to go to St. Paul to meet his older brother, Alfred Blomster. He did a lot of different things. He helped fight the Hinckley fire in September 1894. He drove a baby doctor via horse and buggy to home visits in St. Paul. He worked for Milton Dairy and even tried running a grocery store in St. Paul with his brother, but they had so many dead beats they didn’t make it. He was married on November 18, 1905 in St. Paul to Hilda Sophia Swenson. They moved to the Swenson homestead on the eastern shore of Horseshoe Lake near Stark, Minnesota in 1909 where they have farmed and lived since they made this their home. He became a member of the Fish Lake Lutheran Church in the same year, 1909. They had three children: Russel, Marion (Mrs. Lloyd Pearson) and Grant.
Besides his wife and three children, Mr. Blomster is mourned by one grandson, Galen; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Sahlgren and Mrs. Herman Peterson of St. Paul; two brothers, Oscar of St. Paul and John of Baker, North Dakota. Two other brothers preceded him in death. The community will miss this fine citizen and hundreds of friends join in expressing sympathy to the family in the loss of a dear and loving husband and father.
