Funeral services were held for John A Magnuson, aged settler fo Chisago County for over fifty years were conducted from Immanual Lutheran Church in Almelund yesterday afternoon, Rev Martin Larson officiated, Interment was made at the Chisago Lake Cemetary.
John A Magnuson one of the county's oldest settlers was born in Sweden in 1845. At the age of 21 he migrated to America, arriving in this county June 1, 1866. He came directly to this community where he resided north of Center City during the remainder of his life. Approximately six years later he was married, to this union being blessed with 8 children who survive him. Mr Magnuson enjoyed very good health abd hus death came as a shock to friends and relatives. He was apparently in good health Thursday November 6 except for a slight pain in his chest. That night he fell aleep never to wake up in this world again. He died on the home farm. It is thought that death came between 3-4 o'clock AM. Hardening of the arteries was given as the cause. He leaves 2 sons OE Magner on the home farm north of Center City and CA Magner of Los Angeles, CA and six daughters, Mrs OA Holt of Lindstrom, Mrs JA Weslander of Minneapolis, Mrs N A Anderson of Rice LakeWisconsin, Mrs C Bean, Mrs RW Riney and Mrs CO Livingston all of Seattle, WA, The press joins with friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved.
