Esther Elizabeth Swenson was born November 14, 1884 to Frank and Johanna Swenson at the Swenson homestead on Horseshoe Lake in Fish Lake Township, Chisago County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Fish Lake Lutheran Church. In 1920 she moved to Minneapolis. She worked for many years in Minneapolis for wealthy families as a housekeeper and cook. She never married. Esther was a very good cook and baker. She must have had allergies as she used to “sniff” her nose when she talked. She lived with her sisters, Mary and Hulda, for many years until they moved to the Augustana Home in Minneapolis where they lived until they died. Esther Swenson died July 9, 1973 at the age of 88. She is buried in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
