Frances Blomster, 88, of Cambridge, Minnesota died on Friday, July 25, 2008 at her home in River Hills.

Frances was born at her parent's home on September 1, 1919 in Bodum, Minnesota. She was the only child to Ericka (Dahl) and Andrew Norling, Jr. She grew up on a farm near Bodum where she attended country school. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1938. She worked in Minneapolis for a year and then returned to Bodum to work at Wickblom's Store where she did housework and worked in the store. Frances was baptized and confirmed at Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Stark, Minnesota.

On September 7, 1940 she was united in marriage to Grant Blomster at the North Isanti Baptist Church parsonage. They purchased a farm near Stark where they farmed and raised their two children, Galen and Sharolyn. Frances and Grant lived and farmed near Stark until retiring, selling the farm and moving to Cambridge in August 2000.

Frances was a longtime active member of Fish Lake Lutheran Church and enjoyed being active in many areas of the church. Frances was Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, sang in the choir and was involved in many women's groups. Family was very important to her and always came first. She was so proud of her family. She loved caring for her husband and they were never apart. She liked everyone and would always put other people's needs above her own. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers and was an excellent cook and homemaker. A favorite story is when she and Grant were cultivating their vegetable garden with the horse drawn walking cultivator and she "got to be the horse". When a car drove by, Grant yelled "Drop the rope!" She and Grant loved to dance in their earlier years. Her homemade rye bread was a favorite of her grandchildren.

She was a deeply religious person and her favorite Bible verses were found in Hebrews 11 which she called "God's Hall of Fame". Pastor Dale Stiles sermon at her funeral was organized around Hebrews 11.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Steve Peterson. Frances is survived by her husband Grant of Cambridge, son Galen Blomster and wife Linda Barbeau of Crystal, daughter Sharolyn Peterson of Spicer, five grandchildren Robert and wife Julie Blomster, Mark and wife Adriana Blomster, David Blomster, Drew Peterson and Stephanie Peterson, three great grandchildren Grant, Carter and Tess Blomster, special cousin Verlyn and husband Duane Berg of North Branch, as well as other relatives and friends.
