Marie (Mary) Magdalena Swenson was born January 7, 1879 to Frank and Johanna Swenson at the Swenson homestead on Horseshoe Lake in Fish Lake Township, Chisago County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Fish Lake Lutheran Church. She worked for many years in Minneapolis for wealthy families as a housekeeper and cook. She never married. She lived with her sisters Esther and Hulda for many years in their South Minneapolis home. They were all very good cooks/bakers. In the 1905, 1910 and 1920 census, she was listed as a “servant”. Later in her years, she moved to the Augustana Home in Minneapolis with her sisters, Esther and Hulda. Mary died on October 18, 1970 in Minneapolis at the age of 91. She is buried in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
