Lloyd Russell Pearson was born on August 23, 1916 near Stark, Minnesota to Frank and Amanda (Hawkinson) Pearson. He died January 17, 2000 in North Branch, MN at the age of 83 years.

He was baptized and confirmed in Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Stark, Minnesota. On June 20, 1942 he married Marion Blomster. Lloyd and Marion and her parents worked in California in the shipyards during WWII and he later worked and retired from Control Data in St. Paul, Minnesota. Lloyd was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch, IBEW Local Union #110 in St. Paul and a 50-year member of the Masons, Chisago Lodge #232 in North Branch, Minnesota.

Lloyd grew up in a large family on the family farm by Pine Lake (southwest of Stark) in Chisago County, Minnesota. He had 11 brothers and sisters, but 3 died near birth. They were poor and when they were confirmed they had to leave home and were on their own. They raised potatoes in the bottom of Pine Lake across the road from the Pearson home place during the drought in the1930’s. That’s the same lake where Lloyd learned how to swim. He was full of the dickens growing up and told stories like “A man’s dog died and was going to bury him. So he asked a friend to say a few words over the dog’s grave. He said “In the name of the Father and the Son and in the hole he goes”!! Lloyd would always tell us, he never wore diapers when he was little!! He had many jobs - egg peddler-buying eggs from area farms, candling them in his basement and then sold them in the cities along with dressed chickens, ducks and turkeys we raised. He hurt his hand in the corn shredder as a young man. He worked at the Ford garage in North Branch and went to work at Control Data where he worked for many years until he retired. He helped Vince Malmquist at the funeral home in North Branch. He played the guitar, harmonica, and accordion. He liked crossword puzzles and Wheaties. He played Santa for Galen and Sharolyn for many years with a mask that looked like Genghis Khan, his red jacket and a pair of barn overshoes! No wonder we were always scared of Santa. He always knew if we didn’t eat our breakfast, etc. He used to smoke a pipe and always drove a new car. When he shook hands, he used a limp handshake to imitate an old neighbor. He always gave the men haircuts on our kitchen stool. He lived his later years at Green Acres.

Lloyd is survived by 3 brothers Melvin of Mora, Wilmer of St. Paul, and Hugo of North Branch; 1 sister Frances of California; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Lloyd was preceded in death by wife Marion, infant son Marlo; his parents Frank and Amanda; 2 brothers Joe of Brainerd and Ted of North Branch; 2 sisters Tressie of Weyerhauser, Wisconsin and Julia of North Branch.
