Edith Jennie Blomster, 94, of Stark passed away on Friday, December 3, 1999 at the Cambridge Medical Center.

Funeral Services were held on December 6, at Fish Lake Lutheran Church with Rev. Walter Leitze officiating. Robert Eastlund, accompanied by LaDonna Olson, sang “Children of the Heavenly Father” and “How Great Thou Art.” Pallbearers were Robert, Mark, David and Galen Blomster, Stephen and Drew Peterson. Interment was in Fish Lake Lutheran Cemetery.

Edith Jennie Wiberg Blomster was born October 25, 1905 in Centerville, Iowa to Gust and Jennie Wiberg. As a young girl she moved with her family to a farm on Goose Lake where she grew up. She attended Reed’s Country School.

On October 29, 1949 she was united in marriage to Russel Blomster and the couple made their home on the Blomster home farm on Horseshoe Lake. Russel passed away on September 2, 1978. Edith continued to live there until just a few years ago when she moved to Shady Lane Elder Care Home in North Branch. Edith was a member of the Fish Lake Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Russel, and sister Hilda Mattson. She is survived by two brothers-in-law Grant (Frances) Blomster of Stark and Lloyd Pearson of North Branch, nephew Galen (Linda) Blomster of Crystal, niece Sharolyn (Steve) Peterson of Spicer, four great-nephews and one great-niece.

Edith’s mother died when she was young so she helped her dad (we knew him as “Grampy”) on the farm until she married Russel. Her sister Hilda took care of the household chores. Grampy babysat for us when our parents went dancing. Edith was a good cook and a hard worker, helping Russel on the farm. She made the best Swedish potato sausage with equal parts of beef, pork and potatoes. Hilda “Bobbi” Blomster would spend time at the farm every summer in her later years and the aunties (her sisters) would come to visit. Edith had a friend, Eva Lundeen, from Sweden who would come and visit, too. She was a good cook and made the best dinner rolls. Russel and Edith traveled to Sweden in 1972 and they found relatives of hers that visited Minnesota several times. Edith loved the color pink.
