SPICER -- Stephen John Peterson, 61, of Spicer died Monday at his home.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church and for one hour prior to the services. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London. Memorials are preferred.
He was born Jan. 22, 1945, in Minneapolis to Oliver Kenneth and Florence (Rahm) Peterson. He grew up in the New London-Spicer area and attended grade school in District 98. He graduated from New London High School in 1963. He continued his education at Ridgewater College before enlisting in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving until 1970. He received his degree in business in 1971 from St. Cloud State University.
He married Sharolyn Blomster on July 16, 1977, in Harris. They lived near Spicer where he worked at his family's resort. He served as deputy assessor for Kandiyohi County for several years before working as veterans service officer for more than 25 years.
He was a member of Delta Sigma Pi, Spicer American Legion and Willmar VFW.
He is survived by his wife; children: Drew Peterson of Alexandria and Stephanie Peterson of Spicer; sister: Susan (and Jay) Roley of Spicer; and brothers: Bob (and Blanche) Peterson of Spicer and Rick (and Lisa) Peterson of Plymouth.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
